AI - DESIGN = Architecture Interior DESIGN is one of the leading architectual studios in Czech Republic. Founded by Eva Jiricna & Petr Vagner in 1999, the studio provides a comprehensive services including the design of new buildings and public spaces as well as reconstructions, bridges, detailed interiors, exhibitions, products and furniture. The office completed many projects including multipurpose auditoriums, hotels, university buildings, and many others. AI - DESIGN became known for projects such as the Orangery in Prague’s Castle, Hotel Josef in Prague – the first design hotel in Middle and Eastern Europe, reconstruction of St Anne‘s Church, Cultural and Congress Centre in Zlin, University building in Zlin, Sky Barrandov in Prague and most recently TBU Educational Complex in Zlin. The practice has won numerous international awards and its work is regularly published in magazines, books and periodicals. Its clients include major corporate and public organizations. Eva Jiricna Founder and Director of the AI DESIGN is a Czech born architect based in London. She studied engineering and architecture until 1962, gaining an MA at the Prague Academy of Fine Arts. She moved to London in 1968, working as an architect with the Greater London Council. A year later, she became an associate in the Louis de Soissons Partnership, and later joined Richard Rogers, before forming her multidisciplinary practice, Eva Jiricna Architects, in 1982, operating until 2017. In Prague she opened the office AI-DESIGN with the Czech partner Petr Vagner in 1999. Eva with AI-DESIGN has completed many projects including hotels, University buildings, Multipurpose Auditorium amongst others. Her contribution to architecture and design has been recognised with many prestigious awards, including the title Royal Designer for Industry (RDI) and Commander of the British Empire (CBE). She has been elected a Royal Academician by the Royal Academy of Arts, made an honorary fellow of the American Institute of Architects and she has been honoured with Doctorates and Professorships by many Universities. When she won the 2013 Jane Drew Prize for her outstanding contribution to the status of women in architecture, she was described by judges Zaha Hadid and Rafael Vinoly as ‘incredibly influential’ and ‘extraordinary’. This year she won the Lifetime Achievement Medal at the London Design Festival. Eva Jiricna has recently established also a new London practice, Atelier AAD. She became well known for the interiors of shops and residential projects and mainly glass staircases but also for her work in Victoria and Albert Museum, Canada Water Bus Station, Leicester Library, Orangery at Prague’s Castle and many others.
Petr Vagner Founder and Managing Director of the AI DESIGN studio in Prague, is managing projects in Czech Republic, he co-ordinates and provides the guidance for clients, investors including contract documentation and design development. He has been the head of the office since 1999 when with Eva Jiricna had co-founded the architectural studio AI DESIGN. After almost 20 years cooperating with Eva he possesses an irreplaceable archive of experience. Petr has been working on public and private projects which include design of new buildings, reconstructions of historic buildings, bridges, exhibitions, interiors and unique objects.
